The Durango Chamber Music Festival includes 5 weekday afternoon concerts from June 10 through June 14, perfect events for a quick lunchtime musical getaway. These performances are only 30 minutes by design, so that folks can get on with their busy lives, and our Academy students can get back to class! The Summer Camps are a collaboration between the San Juan Symphony, the Four Corners Music Teachers Association, and the Four Corners Orff Chapter.
Individual concert tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $5 for students, with students in the Summer Camps attending for free as part of their tuition. There are more than 75 students enrolled in our 3 Summer Camp programs, which include the Durango Chamber Music Academy; the Piano Academy at Fort Lewis College; and the Young Musicians Camp called “Discovering Music,” which teaches an introduction to music based on the Orff Method.
The Friday concerts of the DCMF will feature the “Final Recital” performances by students attending the Academies and Summer Camps. Our hope is to allow our students to shine in the spotlight, knowing that performance is a crucial part of the learning experience, but also an amazing and heartwarming community showcase. Admission will be free for the Final Recitals, with a suggested donation of $20 at the door to help support our ever-expanding music education efforts at the San Juan Symphony.
